Why you should care about your e-commerce content

One of the great parts of my job is talking day to day with our clients, prospective new open source cms clients, and various web boffins. It's great to get an idea of the sort of things people want to do with their sites, and why.

Thankfully more and more people seem to be aligning their web strategy to their business strategy, and developing sensible plans for their web presence.

One area which has been the topic of many a conversation recently is e-commerce. I've talked about it with publishers, specialist online businesses, charities - basically organisations from across the business spectrum

Now, technically speaking, theres a number of things to consider when building your e-commerce engine. It's all a bit techy... If you;re looking for something more marketing focused, check out this blog (opens in new window) from the ever reliable people at Clickz.

Essentially, it looks at how the content in and around your shopping cart can influence user behaviour. Its great stuff, and for me is an example of how having control of your content is valuable in all areas of your site.

Let me know what you think!
