The Brand New MySource Matrix Easy Edit Suite - The Most User-Friendly Matrix Interface Ever
As we announced last week, MySource Matrix now offers an even more user-friendly interface; The Easy Edit Suite.
The Easy Edit Suite is a generic simple edit interface for MySource Matrix that looks just like MySource Mini. It brings a whole range of simple editing functionality to content authors and has been built with usability in mind. The Easy Edit Suite is GPL and can easily be added to existing MySource Matrix installations (you will require MySource Matrix version 3.28.0 or later).
Our fantastic new Manuals website has all the information you need to navigate and use the Easy Edit Suite. To follow is a brief introduction to the interface, but be sure to visit the Easy Edit Suite Manual itself for more details.
The Easy Edit Suite Interface
By default, the following tasks are available via the EES (these can be customised to suit your requirements):
- View and navigate your site within the Easy Edit Suite interface, allowing you to select assets to be edited
- Edit the general settings and content of assets within a site
- Edit the metadata of assets
- Control Workflow, approving or rejecting changes made to assets and viewing the Workflow Status and logs of an asset
- Delete Location Links and select which links appear in the navigation menu
- Edit the web paths of assets, changing their URLs
- Delete assets, moving them to the Trash
When you enter the Easy Edit Suite, a toolbar appears at the top of the page, as shown in the figure below.
This tool bar contains the Mode Switcher (which switches between Preview and Edit modes) and, further to the right, the Logout and Save buttons.
Preview Mode allows you to view the current asset and navigate around your site, as you would normally. Once you are viewing the asset you wish to edit, selecting 'Edit' in the Mode Switcher will transfer you to Edit Mode, so you can modify and update the content of the asset.
Edit Mode allows you to edit the general settings and content of assets in your site using a variety of screens and options. The Edit Mode interface is comprised of the Asset Details section on the left side of the screen, the Screen Selector at the top-right, and the Screen Content section at the bottom-right. These sections are highlighted in the figure below. (As the asset in the figure is Live, a warning message has also appeared, allowing users to initiate Safe Edit to safely make changes to the content of the asset.)
The Screen Selector, at the top-right of the screen, displays the screens available to access different settings and content for the asset. These will vary depending on the type of asset that is being edited. Each of the different screens is explained in detail on the Manuals site.
We hope you agree that the Easy Edit Suite looks great. We believe it's a significant step towards making managing web content easy for everyone. If you want to learn more, get in contact.
