The 451 Group's Impact Report - In Brief

The 451 Group's key conclusions in relation to Squiz and MySource Matrix, as detailed in their Impact Report, were as follows:

  • Squiz has been in business since 1998 but spent the first 5 years or so dedicated to the market in Australia and New Zealand. Since then Squiz has expanded operations to London, Edinburgh and Poland and the company has plans to open a New York office.
  • Squiz is a growing, profitable company with a relatively mature CMS and customer base.
  • Squiz is strong in the Government, Higher Education, Publishing and Non-Profit sectors.
  • Most of MySource Matrix's emphasis has been on high-volume Web publishing. The product was designed for multisite, multilingual management at the outset, though this got stronger in a recent release when the company added multilingual support at the asset level.
  • Squiz prides itself on having an open architecture that includes a SOAP API and REST exposure. It also has a set of migration tools and connectors for databases and other repositories, such as SharePoint and TRIM.
  • Squiz recently acquired fellow Australian company Funnelback for its enterprise search and topical clustering technology. Funnelback is replacing MySource Matrix search and can also be used for site search or as a stand-alone tool for enterprise search.
